Lifetime Movie: Human Trafficking
Oct. 27th, 2005 10:07 pmDid anyone see this 2-part miniseries on Lifetime on Monday and Tuesday nights? I had heard of human trafficking and I knew that it happened all over the world, including the United States, but the movie still shook me up. It's happening all over the place, and there's hardly anything anyone can do about it without someone getting killed. Some of the people trafficked are as young as four or five years old and some are sold into it by their own families! How could anyone do that to their own child?
That leads me to another thought: Could Natalee Holloway have been trafficked? She was in a foreign country without any family members, she went off with three guys you know she didn't know from a hole in the wall, no body has been found, and the three guys won't tell what happened to her beyond "something terrible". She could have been snatched right off the street, just like the young American girl in the movie. The three guys could know what happened and not be telling under threat of death to themselves or someone close to them, or they could have sold her themselves, trying to make a quick buck.
Well, that's just me and my conspiracy theories.
