Whatever happened to Halloween?

No trick-or-treaters come around my way, so this year I went to my mother and stepfather's house to hand out candy. I even sat in a chair at the end of the driveway to make sure people would come over. I got exactly 10 trick-or-treaters, in groups of 3, 4, 2, and 1. A couple of times a kid passed by our court, but didn't come in. I guess trick-or-treating is passe now. Halloween used to be so much fun, even if I just stayed home and handed out candy. Now you have to worry about being lectured by people who think "begging for candy" is stupid or religious freaks who think carving a pumpkin means you worship Satan. I still want to create a haunted house before I die. Then again, probably nobody would bother coming.

*sigh* I guess I'm old.
