The good news is that I was offered a full-time drafting job, with I accepted and which is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, November 19 (which coincidentally will be my 29th birthday), depending on when they set up their computer system. I had an interview with them a couple of weeks ago and I took a CAD test using AutoCAD. It was extremely simple, and the boss who interviewed me watched me take it. He doesn't use AutoCAD at all so he acted really impressed by what I drew. I guess it does look complicated and impressive if you've never used AutoCAD, LOL. I got the job through a temp agency so I would be beholden to them for the next 90 days.

I guess you can conclude that I didn't go back to my old job. It wasn't an outright refusal on my part, more of a "we couldn't work anyone out" thing. I did some freelance drafting for a company about a month ago and I just got finished with another temporary position, so financially I'm all right. Well, I'm hoping everything turns out for the best.

The (very) bad news is that my grandma is back in the hospital. She's a lot sicker than she was last time. She has multiple infections and her white blood cell count is low. A blood transfusion could help her some, but she is a Jehovah Witness and transfusions, transplants, etc. are forbidden. They have to sign cards to carry around saying that they can't have one. I won't say any more about that because I'll just get mad.

I talked to my mother on the phone last night and she said that she doesn't think Grandma will make it this time. She and her siblings are rotating staying with her in the hospital and a couple of her sisters are coming down from Maryland. I kind of gathered that Grandma isn't long for this world when I went to see her this past weekend. She looked worse than I had ever seen her. This next part will be a bit graphic.

She had some kind of rag pushed up around her mouth and I saw it was because she was bleeding out of her mouth. My mother said she has a big blood clot in her mouth and the doctors don't want to remove it because they think it's slowing down the constant bleeding. Because of that, she can't really talk. She tried to talk to me but I couldn't understand her, so I just nodded my head and said stuff like "Oh, I see." Unfortunately, I think she knew I was B.S.ing my way through that little conversation. She also can't stay awake for more than a few minutes at a time. Lastly, everyone who goes into her room has to wash up with sanitizer and wear a mask and gown. I'm going to visit her tomorrow if she can still take visitors.

I'm really sorry to hear about your grandma. It's hard when certain unrealistic religious practices keep a loved one from getting the medical help they need.

I will keep you, your grandma and your family in my thoughts.

I am glad about the job. That is always a relief.
