For the past two semesters I've been taking parametric modeling, thinking that learning how to use Autodesk Inventor would look good on my resume. I've been working on my final project since the beginning of this month, which is supposed to use everything I've learned. Well, this evening I got to class, went to take out my thumb drive, which has every file for that class on it (about 5 GB worth), and it wasn't in my bag. I turned my bag inside out, as well as my purse, and it wasn't there. I thought maybe I left it behind in class last Wednesday asked a woman in my class who also works as the lab assistant and she said it wasn't there. My instructor had told us ahead of time that he wouldn't be in class that day, so I just went ahead and left because I couldn't do any work.

I'm pretty sure I put my drive in my bag after class, like I always do, and I don't have Inventor on my computer or laptop at home (too expensive), so I know I did not take the drive out of my bag at any point between Wednesday and today. I thought that maybe the drive fell out of my bag at some point so I drove to my father's house, which is about a mile away from school and asked if he'd seen it. He said he didn't so we looked around his house but we didn't find it. Then I came home and tore my house up and I still didn't find it. I remembered that I had been at my cousin's house Friday night because I tutor him, so I called and asked if he had seen it. He said he hadn't. And even if I left it there, he has three destructive little boys, and no computer, so he probably doesn't even know what a thumb drive looks like and it probably ended up in the trash can anyway.

Clearly my drive is gone and it's not coming back. I'm just going to have to e-mail my instructor and tell him to go ahead and fail me. There's no point in me even going back to class since all of the files with my class notes were on that drive. I don't have anything to work with and I can't make up my final project in a week, much less an entire semester of work. Plus, there's files from last semester I need too. I'm just sorry I wasted so much time working my butt off only to end up with nothing because I'm such an imbecile.
