Republicans propose that the rape exemption be limited to "forcible rape." This would rule out federal assistance for abortions in many rape cases, including instances of statutory rape, many of which are non-forcible. For example: If a 13-year-old girl is impregnated by a 24-year-old adult, she would no longer qualify to have Medicaid pay for an abortion.

Other types of rapes that would no longer be covered by the exemption include rapes in which the woman was drugged or given excessive amounts of alcohol, rapes of women with limited mental capacity, and many date rapes.

As for the incest exception, the bill would only allow federally funded abortions if the woman is under 18.

In other words, "forcible rape" = "someone physically holding you down and forcing sexual intercourse on you while you kick and scream". If that.

When your need to shame and punish women for having sex prevent abortion involves changing the definition of rape, you're doing it wrong and there is something seriously wrong with you. It's one thing to oppose abortion, it's another to doubly violate women in order to SAVE THE BABBYS that you don't give a flying fart about except getting them born.

I hereby refuse to refer to any female who supports this bill as a "woman". You are a "self-hating misogynist rape apologist". As for you male misogynist rape apologists, I reserve the right to believe that you have something to personally gain from certain situations being redefined as "not rape" (like taking advantage of your "hot" niece or blackmailing that nubile young intern into sleeping with you) because if those situations are no longer considered rape or a legitimate reason to obtain an abortion, they certainly won't be considered criminal.

Plus, I wonder how a woman claiming "forcible rape" is required to prove it. She'll probably be forced to file a police report before her bruises fade, or else it wouldn't count.

And probably even then they'll either drag things out until it's too late for her to get an abortion or they deny her if she "shares responsibility" for her own rape, like the outfit she's wearing, going someone alone with a guy, drinking alcohol, being a "tease", hanging out in dark alleys, etc.

Bleeccch, and you can bet that these twits are also going to be the same people who would try to insist that rape should only be referred to as sex in matters of rape cases in courts. Oh, what am I saying, they're already taking the legal means to do so! Because the accusation of rape is so much more offensive than actual rape. Yuck!

I still can't get over how fucking ableist they're being in thinking that raping a woman with limited mental capacity isn't actually rape. So what, they're fair game now?!

What next? Redefining rape even further so that it's only rape if committed by a stranger lurking in the bushes? 'Cause if you get raped by a friend, boyfriend, family member, or spouse, it's your own fault because you should have been able to discern his character and taken the proper precautions.

Or it's not rape if the victim was "advertising" by the way she was dressed. Or if she was alone. Or she has big boobs or a badonkadonk.

Or maybe they can take it all the way back to the Bible and pass a law saying that rape victims have to marry their rapists. It'll be romantic, just like Luke and Laura!
