Lastly, as an American, I also apologize for all of the hateful Pearl Harbor remarks that some of my fellow Americans have posted on Facebook, Twitter and other places. Unfortunately, there are a lot of ignorant, small-minded, and just plain spiteful people in this country who believe that they're better than everyone else and have the motto "God Bless America and no place else".

Aside from it being a totally vile sentiment, I just love how two atomic bombs and the American internment camps apparently aren't enough "karma" for them.

Donated to the Red Cross and actively ignored the stupidity of the "Hurr Hurr Dat's 4 Pearl Harbor!" crowd. This is why I limit my time on large community type sites like Livejournal and Facebook.

Meanwhile, I hope all the best for the Japanese people. As a New Yorker I know what such devastation and loss can be like but I know what strength and outpouring of support can come from it. For every those negative, boorish post made behind anonymous computer screens there's ten positive, helpful actions and donations being done to help.
